About the Centre

The Tsz Shan Monastery Buddhist Spiritual Counselling Centre is the first of its kind in Hong Kong to integrate the teachings of Buddhist dharma into professional counselling. Grounded in Buddhist wisdom, the Centre supports those experiencing emotional distress or uncertainty in relieving inner pressure, cultivating positive energy, disentangling issues, and making thoughtful choices about their future life direction. For those seeking insight through Buddhist teachings and wishing to transform affliction into wisdom, our registered social workers and counsellors offer compassionate guidance to harmonize body and mind toward a life guided by wisdom.

Vision

We aim to cultivate a community shaped by compassion and wisdom, committed to promoting the holistic well-being of body, mind, and spirit.

Mission

Our Centre’s guiding principle, “Healing a deluded mind through perfect integration of compassion and wisdom,” is rooted in Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva’s vow to relieve the suffering of all beings. By integrating Buddhist wisdom with professional counselling, we support individuals in expanding their spiritual perspective, cultivating their mind, and applying these insights in everyday life. Our goal is to help people ‘know oneself; illuminate the mind’, alleviating suffering and fostering inner peace and tranquility. In the spirit of Avalokiteśvara’s commitment to ‘listen deeply to the cries of the world and relieve suffering’, we continue to respond to the changing needs of society and enhance our programmes accordingly.

Objectives

  • To offer individualized Buddhist spiritual counselling services
  • To promote the holistic well-being and development of body, mind, and spirit
  • To provide training in Buddhist spiritual counselling
  • To position the Centre as a training hub for Buddhist spiritual counselling
  • To assess and respond to evolving social service needs by developing new programmes and services
